RJ Jacinto

Ramon "RJ" Jacinto is probably the most self-indulgent personality on Philippine TV.

The image “http://www.philmusicregistry.net/mugs/photo_367.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

He pimps his own band called RJ and the Riots, with RJ Jacinto himself on lead vocals, playing inside his own bar/restaurant called the Bistro RJ, airing on television on his own station called RJTV.

I chanced upon an airing of the said program which probably sports a title containing his name, and there they were: the letters R & J plastered on every corner of the TV screen, his name being shouted everywhere, his voice promoting his collaborative concerts with someone who's name got drowned by all the R's and J's in the television show.

The son of a steel and banking mogul, RJ Jacinto owns radio and TV stations, a music shop, restaurants and a slew of other businesses, many of which are just surviving. Granted the guy did a lot to introduce Rock N' Roll to the country and spent his fair share of building up a collective sense of self through his anti-Marcos protest music, I think it would do more good for him to champion more talent apart from himself.
